League 1 Strugglers AFC Wimbledon, have suspended their First Team Manager Wally Downes
Wimbledon were notified by the FA that Downes had breached betting rules, over a 6 year Period, from November 2013 to July this year, by placing bets on Football matches
It is against FA Rules for any person, employed by a football league club, to bet on any match, irrespective of it they are involved in the match or not
The FA breach of its rules, is alleged to be of a serious nature, which led Wimbledon to Suspending Downes, who was appointed in December last year and masterminded AFC Wimbledon’s great escape from relegation, when they were written off by many as being doomed to relegation.
A last day point at Bradford City was enough to secure their safety.
Downes assistant Glyn Hodges, has been appointed the interim boss for their visit to fellow league 1 side and flying high Peterborough United, this coming Saturday.
