Chelsea completed their tour of Ireland this afternoon, with a comprehensive victory over St Patricks Athletic
This was Frank Lampards second game in charge and he changed the team from their previous game
In the last game he played a 4 2 3 1 formation, which was mainly due to the players at his disposal.
That was due to not having players who had played for their countries, in recent weeks
Those players joined up with the squad at the start of this week, so Lampard had a full squad
So with the options at his disposal,Lampard decided to go with a 4 4 2 formation for this game
Its a formation he favours having used it extensively at Derby County last season.
Mason Mount who was on loan and played under Lampard last season, started this game
And it was he who Chelsea in front against the Pats, as St Patricks are known locally
A few minute later Emerson made it 2~ 0 to Chelsea, which is how it stayed until half time.
At half time, Chelsea made a lot of changes, as Lampard switched all 11 players.
This was done so that minutes could be shared through the players.
This led to a change in formation, going from a 4 4 2, to a 4 2 31 formation. With Olivier Giroud leading the line
It was Giroud who made it 3~0 then 4~0 in quick succession with goals in 3 second half minutes
Given how much game time Giroud had last season under Maurizzio Sarri, this will do the Frenchmans confidence no harm at all
